About Jonathan

Jonathan Shippey is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice since 1999. He is a clinical fellow with the American Association for American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

He is trained in 2 of the leading couples therapy approaches: He is certified in The Gottman Method Therapy and pursuing certification in Emotion Focused Couples Therapy. He has integrated both approaches in his work to help families.

As is a former U.S. Army combat medic and platoon leader in a forward-deployed tank battalion, Jonathan is passionate about helping military and veteran families create healing relationships.

Jonathan’s civilian work with the military includes presenting:
  • Couples workshops for U.S. Navy SEAL team members and their spouses,
  • Couples Odyssey workshops for combat trauma survivors and their spouses through the Wounded Warrior Project, and
  • Gottman Level 2 and Domestic Violence training for therapists at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys in South Korea.
